(The Center Square) – Michigan gas prices the day before Thanksgiving are only 2 cents lower than they were last year and 6 cents above the current national average.

The average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Michigan is currently $3.13 per gallon, the American Automobile Association reported Wednesday. In 2023, the state’s average gas price the day before Thanksgiving was $3.15 per gallon.

Wednesday’s average is also a 5-cent spike from Tuesday and a 6-cent increase from a week ago.

The counties with the lowest average gas prices are Menominee at a $2.85 per gallon average; Houghton at $2.91; Dickinson and Montmorency at $2.92; and Roscommon and Clare at $2.96.

The counties with the highest average prices are Huron and Barry at $3.27; Crawford at $3.26; and Bay and Livingston at $3.25.

Neighboring Midwestern states Wisconsin and Ohio are fuel gas prices below the national average, with gas costing an average of ten to thirty cents less, respectively, than they did last year.
