Beehive expanding in Ohio

(The Center Square) – Beehive Industries has announced a new $70 million jet-engine factory expansion in Ohio expected to create 200 new jobs.

Beehive is a manufacturer of “advanced, 3D-printed jet engines for uncrewed aerial defense applications.”

“Our success is fundamentally tied to the caliber of the workforce we are building in southwest Ohio,” Gordie Follin, chief product officer at Beehive Industries, said in a statement. “Beehive Industries is investing in a region that possesses a unique combination of aerospace heritage and precision manufacturing skill. This expansion allows us to pair our advanced additive manufacturing technology with the deep technical expertise found there, creating a sustainable model for growth that benefits both our mission and Ohio’s economy.”

The Beehive announcement was quickly followed by another aviation-related expansion for Ohio.

Electra, a company that makes a “new category of aircraft that can take off and land in just 150 feet,” plans a production facility in Springfield.

It will be an $850 million investment that will create 1,975 jobs.

“Electra is opening a new era of aviation, one where flight is direct, accessible, and closer to the communities it serves,” Marc Allen, CEO of Electra, said in a statement. “In Springfield and Clark County, we found the rare combination this next era requires: a ready site, a skilled workforce, a deep aerospace and defense ecosystem, and state and local leaders with the commitment and vision to build it with us.”

“Electra’s decision to bring nearly 2,000 new jobs to Springfield will be transformative for Clark County, demonstrating Ohio’s unique ability to lead America into aviation’s next era,” Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said.

DeWine made the announcements at the Farnborough International Airshow in Great Britain.
