Ohio approves $450M in tax breaks for Anduril

(The Center Square) – Ohio’s largest single job creation project in state history could receive more than $450 million in tax breaks.

The Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a 2.594%, 30-year job creation tax credit for Anduril Industries, which plans to employ 4,000 people and create 4,500 more indirect jobs at a new facility in Pickaway County.

“These investments are propelling Ohio into a future defined by innovation, cutting-edge technology, and unmatched opportunity,” DeWine said. “Anduril is not only revolutionizing America’s defense industry, but it’s joining the wave of coastal companies expanding to Ohio and bringing thousands of jobs and millions of dollars in capital investment to the Heart of it All.”

Pickaway County has also asked for $70 million from the All Ohio Future Fund. A decision is expected at an upcoming meeting of the Ohio Controlling Board. DeWine and the Legislature established the fund to help local communities with site readiness and preparation to attract economic development projects.

Anduril Industries announced Jan. 16 its plan for a 5 million-square-foot facility, which officials project will add nearly $1 billion to Ohio’s gross domestic product.

It’s the largest single job creation and new payroll project in the state’s history and will be near Rickenbacker International Airport.

It includes a $9 million capital investment and projects 8,500 direct and indirect jobs in the next 10 years.

The build-out of the facility is planned to begin immediately after state and local approvals. Manufacturing is expected to start in July 2026.

The California-based defense technology company wants to rebuild the U.S. military’s arsenal of weapons and platforms and plans to be at full strength by 2035. In August, the company announced $1.5 billion in funding to open the manufacturing facility.

“Anduril’s investment in Ohio represents a transformative moment for our state, showcasing the power of collaboration between local, state, and private partners,” said Lydia Mihalik, director of the Ohio Department of Development. “This project reflects our commitment to driving economic growth and creating opportunities that will shape Ohio’s future for generations.”
