Ohio polls open at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday

(The Center Square) – Ohioans head to the polls Tuesday in an election heavy on local tax issues and races.

Polls open at 6:30 a.m. on an Election Day that had a relatively calm lead-up compared to what is expected to be a more intense 2026 election season that will include an Ohio U.S. Senate race, U.S. House of Representatives races, and several statewide offices, including governor.

Polls close statewide at 7:30 p.m.

Overall, there are 1,553 local questions on ballots tomorrow, according to Ben Kindel, press secretary and deputy communications director for media for Secretary of State Frank LaRose.

Early voting ended Sunday, with 189,679 absentee ballots requested and 117,196 returned as of Saturday.

The early voting period also included 192,313 in-person ballots cast, with a total of 381,992 people voting before Election Day.

The majority of early voters were people 65 years old and older, with 200,000 senior citizens already casting their ballots.

Also, 112,000 Democrats voted early, compared to 117,000 Republicans, while 78,000 unaffiliated voters also voted early.
