(The Center Square) – Wisconsin’s 72 counties had unemployment increases in June on rates that were not seasonally adjusted while the state’s seasonally adjusted adjusted rate dropped to 3.3%.
The national rate is 4.2%.
Wisconsin had an increase of 6,000 employed over the month and the unemployment rate went down in 10 counties, increased in 44 counties and stayed the same in 18 over the year.
Overall, more than 3 million people remain employed in the state while the state’s labor force participation rate is up to 64.5%, above the 61.5% national rate.
Lafayette (2.5%), Clark (2.7%), Calumet (2.8%), Dodge (2.8%), Green (2.8%), Iowa (2.8%), Kewaukee (2.8%) and Sauk (2.8%) counties had the state’s lowest unemployment rates in June.
Iron (4.9%), Menominee (4.8%), Burnett (4.4%), Adams (4.4%), Rusk (4.3%), Milwaukee (4.3%), Douglas (4.3%) and Marinette (4.2%) were the counties with the highest June unemployment rates.
The unemployment rate increased in all of the state’s largest 35 cities over the month while increasing in 23 cities, staying the same in six and decreasing in six year to year.
