Wisconsin Republican congressmen bash president over troop deaths

(The Center Square) – A pair of Wisconsin congressmen are criticizing the Biden Administration over the deaths of three American soldiers in a weekend attack in Jordan.

Congressman Mike Gallagher accused President Biden of being slow to deal with Iran, which he blames for the soldiers’ deaths.

“Iranian proxies killed three American service members and injured over two dozen more in yet another attack on US military bases in the Middle East. President Biden’s refusal to hold Iran accountable has led to this moment, and American troops have paid the maximum price for his administration’s minimum pressure campaign against Iran,” Gallagher said in a statement.

The three soldiers who died, along with the 25 who were hurt, were part of an American mission near the Syrian border.

The Pentagon says Iranian-backed militias used a “suicide drone” to attack an American base.

The weekend attack is one of nearly 200 attacks on American forces since the war between Israel and Hamas began back in October.

“I mourn the loss of these heroes and pray for their families and fellow servicemembers who continue to face these threats. President Biden must take immediate action against Iran and its proxies in order to restore deterrence and ensure no more American lives are lost,” Gallagher added.

He is not the only Wisconsin Republican to criticize the president.

“My condolences go out to the families of the three American heroes who were killed and the 25 more injured by the terrorist attack in Jordan,” Congressman Tom Tiffany said on social media Monday. “American weakness emboldens our enemies.”

The weekend deaths come about two weeks after two Navy SEALs died in an operation in the Red Sea. Commanders say they were trying to intercept Iranian weapons that were being shipped to Yemen.

President Biden over the weekend vowed that the U.S. would respond to the attacks on the troops in Jordan.
