MLB DFS: Top DraftKings and FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks, strategy and advice for April 18, 2022

Early on, the Atlanta Braves are trailing the New York Mets by 2.5 games in the NL East, but it might be worse if it weren’t for Marcell Ozuna. After getting just one hit in his first two games, his bat has come alive and he is fourth in the majors with seven extra-base hits. The question for Monday is whether or not to add him to MLB DFS lineups in a tough matchup against Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw.

Kershaw has only pitched in one game this season, but it was a gem, as he threw seven perfect innings and struck out 13 against the Twins last Wednesday. Ozuna has more experience against Kershaw than any other player in the Braves lineup, but only has a triple and a hit in 14 at bats against him. Perhaps Atlanta second baseman Ozzie Albies may be a better option for the game in the MLB DFS player pool, as he has four hits and two RBI in 11 at bats against Kershaw. Before you make your MLB DFS picks for Monday, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won almost $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

On Sunday, McClure highlighted Yankees pitcher Nestor Cortes in his MLB DFS player pool on both FanDuel and DraftKings. The result: Cortes finished as the top-scoring pitcher in the main slate of games in New York’s loss to Baltimore. He struck out 12 batters and gave up just three hits with no runs to return 32.85 points on DraftKings and 51 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, with the 2022 MLB season in full swing, McClure has locked in his top MLB daily Fantasy picks for Monday, April 18. Head to SportsLine now to see them

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for April 18, 2022

One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Monday is Philadelphia outfielder Bryce Harper, who is listed at $6,200 on DraftKings and $4,200 on FanDuel. Harper powered the Phillies to a win against Miami on Saturday, with three runs, two RBI and a double. He hit another double and a home run on Sunday in the series finale.

Harper hasn’t had much success against Rockies starter Chad Kuhl over the years, but he has only had one at bat against him since 2018. Against right-handed starting pitchers this season, Harper has only hit .226, but he has a career .956 OPS versus RHPs. Seven of his nine RBI this season have come against righty starters, and he should expect to continue his hot hitting on Monday.

Another part of McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy includes rostering Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker ($5,000 on DraftKings and $3,500 on FanDuel). Tucker started the season hot, but is looking to hit his way out of a bit of an early-season slump on Monday. Since April 10, Hunter has just one hit, and he’s hoping to catch a break against Angels starter Michael Lorenzen.

Lorenzen had only made five starts since 2016 before his first start this season as part of the Angels’ rotation. Although Lorenzen did well in his debut, Tucker has traditionally been solid against right-handed pitching. Throughout his career, he has batting splits of .274/.346/.509 against righties, with 25 home runs and 89 RBI.
