TGC Co-Founder Timothy Keller Has Died
Timothy Keller, co-founder of The Gospel Coalition (TGC) has died on May 19, 2023, at age 72, more than three years after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Keller served in pastoral ministry for four decades as a founding and longtime pastor of the Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City and co-founding of Redeemer City to City, a training network for pastors. He also authored many bestselling books that have influenced the faith of millions across the world. Keller was also noted for playing a significant role in the revival of Reformed theology, also regarded as “new Calvinism” in the early 2000s. In 2021, on a podcast, Keller spoke candidly about his experience with terminal cancer and how it had focused his spiritual life saying, “I think the way I handle imminent death is by fighting my sin and getting deeper communion with God”
Three Top Gospel Artists Become First-Time Grandfathers
Good news has been flowing throughout the gospel industry with the announcements of three first-time grandfathers. Jonathan Nelson, Micah Stampley and JJ Hairston have all recently posted news about becoming “girl-grandads.” The news of the new arrivals by Jonathan and Micah were posted alongside pictures on Instagram with the newborns. JJ Hairston and his wife Trina posted the recent video of the gender reveal of their granddaughter, who is expected to make her arrival within the upcoming months. JJ is also celebrating his top three nominations for the upcoming Stellar Awards. All great news that’s sweet music to our ears!
Montrae Tisdale and the Friends Chorale Hosting Live Recording in OKC
Montrae Tisdale and The Friends Chorale are prepping for “The Faith Journey,” the live recording which is already shaping up to be one of the biggest gospel live recordings for 2023. The recording, set for Memorial Day weekend, will be happening at the Tabitha Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, OK, and has a star-studded lineup that can easily cover many hours in one evening. The recording will take place Friday, May 26th and will feature performances by Karen Clark Sheard, Ricky Dillard, VaShawn Mitchell, Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Bishop Larry Trotter, Dr. B. Chase Williams, and others. Bishop Carlton Pearson will also be on hand to lead the Invocation Prayer. Doors will open at 6pm with the recording beginning at 7pm. Todd Dulaney’s “The Journey Continues” Tour is on the Road
Praise and worship leader Todd Dulaney has announced the continuation of his “The Journey Continues” tour with new dates available throughout the entire month of June. Dulaney, who is a former MLB player turned award-winning gospel artist, will kick-off the new monthlong tour in Atlanta, GA, at the already sold-out Story Church Atlanta and Embassy City on June 9th and will continue on to other major U.S. cities, including Upper Marlboro, MD, Memphis, TN, Columbia, SC and Southfield, MI. Dulaney is expected to perform he fan’s favorites as well songs from his forthcoming project “The Journey Continues,” with the newly released lead single “It’s Working,” featuring Bishop Hezekiah Walker.
10th Annual K-LOVE Fans Awards Headed to Nashville
Voting is now open to the fans for the 2023 K-LOVE Fan Awards. Phil Wickham is leading this year’s nominees with five nods, with Brandon Lake following with four. CAIN, Rachael Lampa, and TobyMac have received three nominations each. The members of CAIN will be the hosts of this year’s awards ceremony which will be taped on May 28, 2023, at the Opry House in Nashville, TN. The show’s premiere broadcast will air on TBN on June 2nd. In addition to the awards ceremony, there will be several kick-off events including the Emerging Artist Showcase and the Songwriter’s Showcase and will conclude with a Sunday morning worship service.
