Americans Still Don’t Want a King

(AURN News) — As the government shutdown stretches into its third week, No Kings protests have erupted nationwide. But over the weekend, President Donald Trump’s approval rating remained surprisingly steady.

According to an Economist poll released this week, 40% of voters approve of the job he’s doing, while 55% disapprove.

That tracks closely with The New York Times and Emerson College polls showing him hovering between 43% and 45%. The outlier, Rasmussen, has him at 49% approval — his highest mark this month.

But beneath those numbers is deep frustration, as Americans say the top issues right now are inflation, jobs and health care — all made worse by the shutdown that’s left thousands of federal workers without pay and key services frozen.

Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency has slashed jobs, and his deployment of troops in U.S. cities has drawn fierce legal pushback.
