Biden on Trump verdict: Ballot box only way to keep Trump out of White House

Joe Biden’s personal X account on social media posted about 30 minutes after former President Donald Trump’s conviction Thursday in his New York City hush money trial, telling people that voting would keep Trump out of the White House.

About 30 minutes after the verdict was announced, Biden’s personal X account posted: “There’s only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: At the ballot box. Donate to our campaign today:”

It was accompanied with a link to donate to the Biden/Kamala Harris ticket.

The Trump campaign also appeared to capitalize on the verdict that the former president said was nothing but a political with hunt. One of Trump’s political donation websites went down shortly after the verdict was announced, a result of heavy traffic from supporters in the aftermath of the jury’s verdict, the campaign said.

Trump was found guilty Thursday on all 34 felony counts in his hush money trial in New York involving a $130,000 payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election.

NBC News reported that Biden’s campaign stated, “no one is above the law” right after the verdict was announced.

“Donald Trump has always mistakenly believed he would never face consequences for breaking the law for his own personal gain,” Biden campaign spokesman Michael Tyler said in a statement, NBC News reported. “But today’s verdict does not change the fact that the American people face a simple reality.”

NBC reported that Biden wasn’t expected to address the media over the verdict.

“We respect the rule of law, and have no additional comment,” said Ian Sams, spokesperson for the White House counsel’s office, according to NBC News.

Trump was critical of his trial both before and after the verdict, calling it a political witch hunt orchestrated by Biden, his political rival.

He claimed on Teuth Social that Judge Juan Merchant prevented him from presenting certain facts in his defense and said a gag order issued by the judge on him was unconstitutional.

“MY CIVIL RIGHTS HAVE BEEN TOTALLY VIOLATED WITH THIS HIGHLY POLITICAL, UNCONSTITUTIONAL, AND ELECTION INTERFERING WITCH HUNT. OUR FAILING NATION IS BEING LAUGHED AT ALL OVER THE WORLD!” Trump posted.
