(AURN News) — Black excellence is being celebrated in Kansas after Wichita Northwest High School student Ta’Liyah Lewis was crowned Miss Kansas’ Teen 2026.
As Miss Kansas’ Teen, Lewis will spend the next year representing the state through service, appearances and community outreach.
“Throughout this year, I look forward to representing our incredible state, meeting people from all across Kansas and using my platform to advocate for mental health awareness and suicide prevention,” she said in a statement.
“Mental health affects so many individuals and families, and I am passionate about encouraging open conversations, reducing stigma and helping others know they are never alone,” she added.
The Miss Kansas’ Teen competition is part of the Miss America Organization.
Lewis has made youth mental health awareness a central focus of her work and will carry that message across Kansas during her year as Miss Kansas’ Teen.
