(AURN News) – In a candid revelation, former legendary WTHR-TV main news anchor Andrea Morehead is sharing her journey as a Black woman in the television industry, shedding light on the challenges she faced during her 21-year tenure at the Indianapolis station. Morehead has launched a new YouTube series titled “My Silence Is Not for Sale,” where she courageously details instances of gaslighting, hostile treatment, abuse, and more, with the aim of empowering others who may have faced similar experiences.

“I really feel the weight of my traumatic past, finally being overshadowed by my sincere desire to use this form to save others,” she said in the first episode.

“I know there are millions of people who are exhausted, we are tired of being exhausted by toxicity in the workplace. In fact, when it was time to return to the workplace full-time post-COVID, many of us were like, ‘No thank you,’ because maybe you realize you didn’t want to put up with the microaggressions, the gaslighting, the lies, the disparate treatment in the workplace,” she added.

The veteran journalist, renowned for her Emmy and Murrow awards, addresses the weight of her traumatic past in the series’ inaugural episode. Amidst the revelations, Morehead reflects on the broader issue of workplace toxicity.

The former news anchor took legal action against WTHR and its owner, Tegna, filing a discrimination lawsuit in 2021. By sharing her story, she underscores and sheds light publicly on the systemic challenges faced by far too many Black professionals in the local television news industry.

Through “My Silence is Not for Sale,” Morehead emerges as a powerful advocate for workplace equity, aiming to inspire change and provide a platform for those who have been silenced.
