(AURN News) — The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation will use its Veterans Braintrust this week during its 54th Annual Legislative Conference to focus on the struggles service members face after returning home.
The session, titled “Reintegration After Service in the United States Armed Forces: Civilian Transition, Post-Traumatic Stress and Its Aftermath,” is scheduled for Sept. 26 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
Rep. Sanford Bishop, D-Ga., will chair the panel. Rep. Don Davis, D-N.C., and Rep. Lauren Underwood, D-Ill., will also take part.
The program will examine post-traumatic stress, access to care, employment and the challenges of moving back into civilian life. It will also honor former Rep. Charles Rangel, a decorated Korean War veteran known for his work on behalf of service members.
