Consumers Losing Confidence as Costs Continue to Rise

(AURN News) — Consumer sentiment is taking another hit as economic concerns continue to grow.

According to the University of Michigan’s Surveys of Consumers, sentiment fell 3.5 points in April, reaching its lowest level since June 2022.

The report notes that sentiment declined across multiple groups, including political parties, age brackets and income levels.

Rising costs remain a key concern for many Americans.

Consumers continue to face higher gas prices, food costs and rising airline prices, all of which are adding pressure to household budgets.

The latest data underscores how economic strain is being felt broadly, with consumer confidence weakening across the country.
