Democrats’ Own Report Card: Billions Spent, Battles Lost and a Party Still Looking for Answers

WASHINGTON (AURN News) — The Democratic National Committee has released a sweeping after-action report on the 2024 election, and the findings are not flattering.

The report, titled “Build to Win, Build to Last,” concludes that Democrats have been losing ground at nearly every level of government since former President Barack Obama’s 2008 landslide victory.

Despite raising nearly $9 billion in federal elections alone, Democrats lost the White House and the Senate and failed to retake the House.

The report blames a campaign that started too late, spent too much money on television ads and not nearly enough on the ground game. Door-to-door canvassing, described in the report as the most effective voter-contact method, was underfunded and did not ramp up until the final weeks of the campaign.

The report also raises alarms about Latino voters shifting toward Republicans, young men of color moving away from the party and Vice President Kamala Harris not being properly prepared or positioned as the party’s presidential nominee.

The DNC itself is distancing itself from the document, stamping every page with a disclaimer saying it cannot verify many of the claims, with several sections still unfinished.
