Did Paychecks Really Keep Up With Inflation?

(AURN News) — The price of nearly everything has gone up and continues to rise. From beef reaching record highs to housing and rental costs, inflation continues to strain American budgets.

Pew Research Center examined whether wages have kept up with inflation.

In a new report, Pew found that 66% of Americans say inflation is a major problem right now. That is a 3% increase compared to last year.

The analysis found that between the end of 1999 and the end of 2025, weekly median wages doubled from $482 to $1,040 before adjusting for inflation.

While inflation has strained household budgets, Pew found that paychecks have generally kept pace with inflation, with buying power increasing between 11% and 22% over the long term.
