DNC Kicks Off: Harris-Walz Ticket & Big Names Set to Speak

The Democratic National Convention kicks off today in Chicago, drawing an estimated 50,000 attendees. The convention runs through Thursday, and tonight President Joe Biden will take the stage alongside Dr. Jill Biden and Hillary Clinton to rally support for Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic nominees for president and vice president.

The theme for tonight is “For The People,” highlighting Biden’s legacy and the Harris-Walz commitment to fighting for everyday Americans. Tuesday will focus on “A Bold Vision For America’s Future,” with speeches from former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

Wednesday’s theme is “A Fight for Our Freedoms.” That’s when Harris’ running mate Gov. Tim Walz will take the stage, as well as former President Bill Clinton.

The week wraps up Thursday with Harris herself delivering a keynote under the theme, “For Our Future.”
