Gallup Poll: Trump Approval Rebounds After July Drop

(AURN News) — President Donald Trump’s approval rating ticked up in August, reversing a months-long slide.

According to a new Gallup poll, 40% of Americans now approve of the job he’s doing — a three-point gain from July’s 37%. It’s the first increase in his approval numbers since February, when support stood at 47%.

His approval rating on the economy held steady at 37%, while his rating on foreign affairs slipped slightly to 39%.

The poll also shows a widening partisan divide. Ninety-three percent of Republicans approve of the president’s performance, compared with just 1% of Democrats. That 92-point gap is one of the largest Gallup has ever recorded. During Joe Biden’s presidency, Republican approval hovered at 2%.

That split is also reflected in how Americans feel about the direction of the country. Republican satisfaction surged to 76% in August — the highest level Gallup has measured since 2005. Among Democrats, satisfaction fell to 0.4%, so low it rounds to zero on Gallup’s graph. One in four independents — 25% — say they are satisfied, a figure that has remained relatively stable.
