Georgia man accused of threatening Trump sentenced to prison

A Georgia man who threatened to “put a bullet” in President Donald Trump’s head will serve three years and five months in a federal prison.

Jauan Rashun Porter of Rome, Ga., threatened to kill the president and federal agents if they came to his door in a series of posts on a TikTok livestream, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia.

“I’m gonna kill Donald Trump. I’m gonna put a 7.62 bullet inside his forehead. I’m gonna watch him bleed out and I’m gonna watch him die. I’mma load up a rifle [and] sit inside . . . an abandoned building . . . and when he approaches the rally . . . I’m gonna put one . . . if not the face then . . . in his chest,” Porter wrote on the social media app in July 2025, according to the department. Porter was arrested in August 2025.

U.S. Secret Service agents, Floyd County police officers and Georgia probation officers found pipes, pistol ammunition, and the explosive Tannerite when they searched Porter’s home, but did not find a gun, according to a release.

Porter was on probation for domestic violence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon when he was arrested, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Other convictions include two for terroristic threats and acts and one for an unlawful act of violence in a penal institution.

“Threatening to kill the President of the United States is an abhorrent crime that cannot be tolerated,” said U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg. “Because the Constitution affords no protection to political violence, we will continue to work closely with our federal partners to identify and prosecute criminals who make such threats.”

Porter pleaded guilty in October to one count of transmitting interstate threats. In addition to the prison sentence ordered by U.S. District Judge William M. Ray II, Porter will serve three years of supervised release.
