Protesters took to the streets all across the nation. From The Villages in Florida to courthouses in Oakland, “Good Trouble” is trending in real time today on the fifth anniversary of civil rights icon John Lewis’s death.
More than 1,600 demonstrations erupted across all 50 states and even abroad, protesting the Trump administration’s rollback of civil rights, immigration protections and safety-net programs like SNAP and Medicaid.
The day of action, dubbed “Good Trouble Lives On,” is organized by the 50501 Movement — named for its goal: 50 states, 50 protests, one movement.
More than 162,000 people RSVP’d, with actual turnout expected in the hundreds of thousands.
Chicago hosted the flagship rally, but the most symbolic protests took place in The Villages, Trump’s own Florida stronghold, where retirees took to the streets demanding justice.
