HHS Lays Off 10,000 as Trump, RFK Jr. Gut Nation’s Health System

What happens when a government guts the agency responsible for public ? The nation may soon find out.

On Thursday, the announced it would fire 10,000 employees from the Department of Health and Human Services, a move that slashes more than 12% of the agency’s workforce and reshapes nearly every division under the direction of Health Secretary Jr.

This massive shakeup has been framed as a push for efficiency amid growing concern over the administration’s escalating campaign to dismantle every part of the government.

The reorganization will merge 28 separate HHS divisions into just 15 and create a new umbrella group called the Administration for Healthy America. It also wipes out half of the department’s regional offices and significantly cuts staff from critical agencies like the FDA, CDC, and NIH.
