High Gas Prices Are Changing Vacation Plans

(AURN News) — The summer travel season is almost here, and with high prices ranging from gas to food, summer 2026 will certainly be one for the record books.

Gas prices, for example, typically tick up during Memorial Day week in anticipation of the summer travel season.

A new report from WalletHub is offering a closer look at how Americans are feeling about summer travel.

The survey shows that 59% of Americans say gas prices will make a difference when it comes to travel plans.

When it comes to spending less money, 51% said they will spend less this summer than they did last summer.

But that is not going to stop some Americans from going into debt, with more than one in three people surveyed saying they will go into debt for “a good vacation.”
