Is America Falling Out of Love With Capitalism?

(AURN NEWS) — Are growing economic challenges for lower-income and middle-class Americans casting doubt on capitalism?

A new Gallup poll finds that favorability toward capitalism has dropped to 54%, down from 60% in 2021. The survey shows support for capitalism has steadily declined over the past four years.

Socialism remains less popular than capitalism, with 39% holding a favorable view, while 57% have a negative opinion and views among Democrats and independents have held relatively steady since 2021, according to Gallup.

As perks from President Donald Trump’s legislation and agenda flow to corporations and big businesses, favorable views of big business continue to decline. Gallup reports that only 37% of Americans now have a favorable view of big business, a figure that has steadily declined since 2019.
