Is the Trump ‘Golden Age’ Losing Its Shine?

WASHINGTON (AURN News) — After President Donald Trump was dealt a setback by the U.S. Supreme Court over his tariff agenda, new economic data are raising additional concerns about the direction of the U.S. economy.

The Wall Street Journal reported that a key warning sign may be emerging in the economy. The personal-consumption expenditures price index increased 0.4% in December. The Journal noted that the index is an important gauge for the Federal Reserve.

The data indicate inflation may be accelerating — a development that could complicate Trump’s claims that his economic agenda has ushered in a new golden age for Americans.

Economists continue to debate who is benefiting most from the current economic climate. Some analysts question whether middle- and lower-income working-class Americans are seeing the same gains as higher earners, particularly as prices continue to rise.
