Labor Shakeup: Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer Resigns Amid Investigation

(AURN News) — Another Cabinet member is out. U.S. Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer has stepped down after nearly a year on the job.

Officially, she is moving into the private sector as another story unfolds.

Her resignation follows an internal investigation into alleged misconduct, including misuse of taxpayer-funded travel and claims of retaliation against staff.

There are also reports of inappropriate behavior, including drinking while working, and scrutiny tied to her family’s interactions within the agency.

She is now the third high-level official to leave President Donald Trump’s second-term Cabinet, joining former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and former Attorney General Pam Bondi, who also exited under controversy.

The Congressional Black Caucus put out a statement pointing to policies under her leadership that weakened workplace discrimination enforcement, scaled back labor protections and undercut union and collective bargaining rights.
