Mamdani Says Netanyahu Is Not Welcome in New York Despite City’s Lack of Arrest Authority

(AURN News) — New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani says Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not welcome in New York City, even though the city has no legal authority to enforce the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant against him.

“Benjamin Netanyahu is a war criminal, the architect of a horrific genocide against the Palestinian people. He is responsible for the killing of more than 73,000 people. Just last month, the U.N. confirmed that Palestinian children continue to be deliberately targeted and killed by Israeli armed forces,” Mamdani said in a video posted Tuesday.

Mamdani said his administration reviewed every legal option and determined the city has no authority to enforce the ICC’s arrest warrant for Netanyahu. He called on the federal government to enforce the warrant, saying Netanyahu is not welcome in New York regardless.

Netanyahu could visit New York in September for the U.N. General Assembly. The Trump administration has already said it will not enforce the ICC warrant.
