NMAAHC Director Kevin Young on Leave Amid Trump Order Targeting Smithsonian

According to The Guardian, Kevin Young, director of the National Museum of and Culture (NMAAHC), has been on personal leave since March 14.

His absence, first reported by The Post, comes as President targets the with an executive order to eliminate what he calls divisive or anti-American ideology.

Shanita Brackett is now serving as interim director. Though there’s no official link between Young’s leave and the order, the timing has raised questions.

The order specifically criticized the NMAAHC for its portrayal of aspects of white culture. Kevin Young has led the museum since 2021.
