(AURN News) — On June 12, 1991, Michael Jordan led the Chicago Bulls to their first NBA championship.
The Bulls defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 108-101 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals at the Great Western Forum in Inglewood, California.
Chicago won the series 4-1, ending years of frustration and officially beginning one of the greatest dynasties in sports history.
Jordan finished Game 5 with 30 points and 10 assists, proving he was not just the league’s most electrifying player but also a champion.
He earned his first NBA Finals MVP award, an honor that would become very familiar over the next several years.
That victory marked the start of the Bulls’ legendary run, which would ultimately produce six NBA championships in the 1990s and cement Michael Jordan as one of the greatest athletes of all time.
