According to Variety, Peabo Bryson, the legendary R&B singer best known for the Disney hits “Beauty and the Beast” and “A Whole New World,” has passed away at 75 years old.
His family announced his death Tuesday, June 2, 2026. No cause of death was given, but the family said Sunday that Bryson had suffered a stroke.
A South Carolina native, Bryson began his career in the 1970s and released his first solo album in 1976.
He went on to score major R&B and pop hits, including “Feel the Fire,” “Reaching for the Sky,” “If Ever You’re in My Arms Again,” and “Can You Stop the Rain.”
Bryson was also known for duets with Roberta Flack, Angela Bofill, Regina Belle, and Celine Dion. A two-time Grammy winner, Peabo Bryson’s career spanned more than five decades.
Rest in peace to Peabo Bryson.
