Pelosi Urges ‘Moral Courage’ in Farewell to Congress

(AURN News) — House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi is preparing to leave Congress next year, but not before taking one more swing at what she calls “the forces arrayed against liberty and dignity.” In a heartfelt statement and essay titled “America Is Great When America Is Good,” Pelosi said the nation is once again being tested — as it was during the Revolution, the Civil War, and the Civil Rights Movement.

“The times have found us once again,” Pelosi wrote. Now 85, she will step away after nearly four decades in Congress — a career that included two historic impeachments of Donald Trump and her tenure as the first woman to serve as speaker of the House.

Trump’s response was predictable: “I think she’s an evil woman. I’m glad she’s retired.”
“I think she did the — uh — the country a great disservice by retiring. I think she was a — uh — tremendous liability for the country,” Trump added.

Pelosi was unfazed, writing that the real fight is about moral courage, not political power.
