Poll Finds Trump, GOP Blamed Most for Shutdown

(AURN News) — The government shutdown continues — and the question now is who is taking the blame.

According to a new Washington Post poll, 47% of Americans say President Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress are to blame. That compares with 30% who blame Democrats and 23% who are unsure.

When asked about federal subsidies that lower the cost of Affordable Care Act coverage, also known as Obamacare, 71% said the subsidies should be extended.

The question is significant because Democrats in Congress say extending the subsidies is the main reason they support the shutdown.
