Poll Shows Mixed Views on Tariff War, Trump’s Economic Performance

(AURN News) — A new poll is providing fresh insight into voters’ mixed feelings about President ‘s tariff war and his overall handling of the as he is set to approach the 100-day mark of his second term at the end of the month.

A recent Quinnipiac University poll shows 72% of voters believe the tariffs will hurt the economy in the short term. Additionally, 53% say they expect the tariffs to cause economic harm over the long term. Among , 44% think the tariffs will hurt the economy in the short term, and 77% of independents agree.

On the subject of Trump’s performance, his approval rating has slipped slightly, falling from 42% in March to 41% in April. 

The economy, a critical issue in the 2024 , appears to be a point of concern: 55% of voters disapprove of Trump’s handling of economic matters. When asked specifically about trade, only 39% approve of the president’s performance.

Quinnipiac University conducted the poll with voters nationwide between April 3 and 7.
