Senators Press Pentagon for Answers on Caribbean Strike

(AURN News) — Lawmakers in both parties are demanding clarity after conflicting accounts from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth about a reported second strike on a suspected drug vessel in the Caribbean.
Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., accused the administration of shifting its story, noting that Seth initially dismissed reports of the follow-up strike as “fake news.” But the next day, White House officials confirmed from the podium that the strike did occur.
“Either he was lying to us on Sunday or he’s incompetent and didn’t know what had happened,” Paul said.
The disputed strike allegedly targeted survivors from a Sept. 2 operation near Trinidad. Members of the Senate and House Armed Services Committees say they will scrutinize who authorized the mission, its legal basis, the rules of engagement and any recordings of the operation.
