Standoff at Hormuz: No Talks, No Deal, No Relief at the Pump

WASHINGTON (AURN News) — It’s day 164 of the U.S. and Israel’s war with Iran, and Iran has laid out its demands for reopening the Strait of Hormuz: lift the U.S. naval blockade, end all sanctions, withdraw U.S. troops from the region, pay war reparations and release Iran’s frozen assets.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said talks with Oman over shipping routes do not mean the Strait of Hormuz will reopen.

President Donald Trump told Axios that the U.S. is “low-keying” negotiations and shifting to economic pressure instead. In that article, he said Iran is in “very bad shape,” unable to even pay its soldiers.

On the strait itself, Trump said flatly, “I’m not going to let them charge.”

Bottom line: There are no formal direct talks right now. Both sides are digging in, and Americans are feeling the impact.

Gas averaged about $4.01 a gallon over the weekend, with Moody’s estimating the war has cost the average U.S. household about $1,000.
