Supreme Court Blocks Rehire Order as Trump’s Mass Federal Firings Stir Legal Firestorm

The Supreme Court just handed the another legal win — this time, by blocking a judge’s order that would have forced the rehiring of thousands of federal workers abruptly terminated in a government downsizing blitz.

At the heart of the battle are more than 16,000 probationary employees across six major agencies — including Affairs and Treasury — who were fired despite some reportedly receiving stellar performance reviews.

A federal judge in called the terminations unlawful, accusing Trump’s team of sidestepping federal hiring laws. But now the high court says: not so fast. This marks the third time in less than a week that the Supreme Court has sided with the Trump administration, which is swiftly using its second term to reshape the federal workforce.

Meanwhile, labor and advocacy groups are calling the firings a direct assault on public service and government integrity. According to lawsuits, more than 24,000 probationary employees have been let go since Trump took office.
