Trump-Appointed Judge Blocks President Again Over Oregon Occupation

(AURN News) — A Trump-appointed federal judge in Oregon has again paused the president’s plan to send National Guard troops into Portland.

Judge Karin Immergut issued an emergency order, stating the administration appeared to be defying her ruling from just 24 hours earlier.

The dispute began after protests outside a Portland immigration facility grew to about 400 people on Saturday. The White House described Portland as “war ravaged.”

Local leaders disagreed, noting the demonstration covered only one block in a city spanning more than 145 square miles.

By Sunday, roughly 200 California National Guard troops had arrived in Oregon, with another 100 on the way.

The judge’s new order blocks any federalized National Guard units from any state from entering Oregon for at least 14 days. Govs. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., and Tina Kotek, D-Ore., both criticized the president, calling the move a political occupation.
