Trump Looks to Recast Economic Message During Michigan Visit

(AURN News) — President Donald Trump is in Michigan today trying to reclaim control of the economic narrative as concerns about inflation and foreign policy weigh on his administration.

He’ll stand at General Motors’ Milford Proving Ground, arguing that his tariffs and tax cuts are fueling a manufacturing comeback.

But the broader backdrop tells a more complicated story. Gas prices are climbing, inflation has proved stubborn and the conflict with Iran has dominated headlines for months, rattling voter confidence.

Trump’s approval rating is about 36%, according to a recent poll.

He’ll have to convince skeptical Michigan voters that his economic playbook is working just eight days before the state’s primary reshapes the races for governor and the U.S. Senate, while posting some of the worst approval marks of his political career, with some Republicans growing increasingly restless.

Michigan’s assembly lines are unlikely to drown out the political noise from Washington or the conflict in the Middle East.
