Trump revokes Biden’s security clearance

President Donald Trump said Friday night that he was revoking the security clearance of former President Joe Biden, citing Biden’s “poor memory” and the fact that Biden had done the same to him.

“There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information. Therefore, we are immediately revoking Joe Biden’s Security Clearances, and stopping his daily Intelligence Briefings,” Trump write on Truth Social.

Trump noted that Special Counsel Robert Hur, who investigated Biden’s mishandling of classified documents after he was vice president under former President Barack Obama, said last year he was declining to file charges against Biden in part because of his deteriorating mental capacity.

“In his interview with our office, Mr. Biden’s memory was worse,” according to the Hur report. “He did not remember when he was vice president, forgetting on the first day of the interview when his term ended (‘if it was 2013 – when did I stop being Vice President?’), and forgetting on the second day of the interview when his term began (‘in 2009, am I still Vice President?’)”

Trump cited that report and Biden’s unprecedented revoking of Trump’s security clearance in 2021, after Biden first took over the White House.

“He set this precedent in 2021, when he instructed the Intelligence Community (IC) to stop the 45th President of the United States (ME!) from accessing details on National Security, a courtesy provided to former Presidents,” Trump wrote. “The Hur Report revealed that Biden suffers from ‘poor memory’ and, even in his “prime,’ could not be trusted with sensitive information. I will always protect our National Security – JOE, YOU’RE FIRED. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

While Biden was never charged with mishandling classified documents, Trump faces criminal charges after the FBI raided his Florida home and found classified documents there. Those charges have now been dropped.
