Trump Slams Civil Rights Act

(AURN News) — Controversial remarks from President Donald Trump are fueling continued skepticism about his administration’s relationship with the Black community.

In an interview published this week in the New York Times, Trump suggested that white people have faced unfair treatment in higher education.

“White people were very badly treated, where they did extremely well and they were not invited to go into a university to college,” the president said.

“So I would say in that way, I think it was unfair in certain cases,” he added.

“It was a reverse discrimination,” Trump said, referring to the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The comments come as Black Americans continue to feel the impact of Trump’s dismantling of diversity initiatives across the federal government, a shift that has also spilled into the corporate sector.
During the first year of Trump’s second term, Black unemployment has risen sharply.
