Trump’s High Stakes Trial Begins Today

It’s a day of reckoning for former President Donald Trump as he testifies in a New York courtroom today in a $250 million civil fraud case threatening to dismantle his business empire.

Trump’s business conduct is under scrutiny, and he will face questions under oath from Attorney General Letitia James’ office. State Judge Arthur Engoron, whom Trump has publicly mocked, will preside over the case and ultimately decide the outcome without a jury.

The courtroom is buzzing with anticipation, packed to capacity with onlookers eager to witness history. The lawsuit alleges Trump and his company grossly inflated their assets to secure better deals from banks, insurers, and more.

The former president has previously invoked his Fifth Amendment rights in testimonies related to this case nearly 450 times. The attorney general’s office claims that Trump’s financial statements deviate significantly from accepted accounting principles. Trump, however, has retorted that his properties have been undervalued and promised to reveal numbers that will, “knock you off your socks.”
