Trump’s Iran Speech Shakes Markets as Oil Prices Jump

(AURN News) — President Donald Trump said the United States will intensify its military campaign against Iran, as oil prices surged and global markets fell following his national address.

“We’re going to bring them back to the Stone Age where they belong,” Trump said.

Trump made the remarks during a national address on the Iran conflict.

Nearly five weeks into the conflict, Trump vowed to complete the military operation, promising to bring Iran “back to the Stone Ages” and pledging two to three more weeks of intensified strikes.

He claimed core military objectives were nearing completion and that Iran’s navy and air force had been destroyed.

But the speech, which was meant to rally support and calm markets, had the opposite effect.

Oil prices spiked more than 6% during the speech, with crude rising above $100 a barrel. Global stocks also fell as investors questioned the promised two- to three-week timeline.

Overnight, Iran’s state media vowed crushing retaliatory strikes and, this morning, launched attacks targeting Israel and Gulf states.
