WASHINGTON (AURN News) — A UFC fighter sparked controversy after making a false claim about former first lady Michelle Obama during a post-fight interview at UFC Freedom 250 on the White House lawn.
The backlash was immediate after heavyweight fighter Josh Hokit said, “Michelle Obama is a man,” during a post-fight interview with Joe Rogan following his TKO victory over Derrick Lewis at UFC Freedom 250 on the White House lawn. Rogan did not respond to the comment during the interview.
Critics quickly condemned the remarks, with many calling on the White House to denounce them. As of publication, the White House had not publicly responded.
Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III was among the most vocal critics, calling the remark a disgrace and writing: “It takes a really small man to use his biggest moment to attack a woman by calling her a man. Especially with the history behind calling black women men.”
UFC CEO Dana White told Time magazine he opposed the remarks, but has not previously sanctioned fighters for making similar comments.
The claim itself is baseless.
