Veterans Say No to Trump This Holiday

(AURN News) – Well, this Veteran’s Day has turned into a national day of resistance from D.C. to Chicago, New York to Los Angeles. Hundreds of veterans are taking to the streets under one banner: no war on our cities. They’re protesting what they call the Trump administration’s occupation at home. The Pentagon has moved to ready 23,000 troops for potential civil unrest and extend the National Guard’s deployment in Washington through early next year.

Veterans groups such as About Face and Mayday Strong say they fought for democracy overseas and won’t watch it unravel at home. Their message? No to ICE raids, no to federal cuts gutting essential services and no to the normalization of militarized life in American neighborhoods. The rallies are peaceful, but the warning is loud that the same forces that wage wars abroad are turning inward.

As these veterans march for democracy, the administration continues to battle the courts over funding for food assistance and other public programs.
