Voters Deliver Harsh Verdict on Democrats in WSJ Poll

(AURN News) — President Donald Trump’s second-term poll numbers may not be strong, but a new Wall Street Journal poll shows Democrats are also struggling to win voters’ confidence.

Voter frustration with both parties is evident, but Democrats are bearing the brunt of it. Nearly two-thirds of voters — 63% — view the Democratic Party unfavorably, according to the Wall Street Journal poll.

That’s the highest number recorded since the Journal began tracking the question in 1990. Just 8% of voters said they view the party very favorably.

By comparison, 19% of voters said they feel very favorable toward the Republican Party — a modest edge but still a sign that the GOP holds slightly stronger ground with its base.

The Journal noted that Democrats have yet to clear an important hurdle: convincing voters they can govern better than Trump’s party.

“The Journal poll shows that the party hasn’t yet accomplished a needed first step in that plan: persuading voters they can do a better job than Trump’s party,” the report stated.

Still, the results do not indicate widespread satisfaction with Trump. The Journal said voters remain critical of his handling of immigration, inflation and trade disputes.
