WATCH: Small businesses lament overregulation

President Donald Trump’s new administration has given fresh hope to small business owners that a rollback of regulations could be on the way.

During his first term, Trump required the removal of two regulations for every new one. This term, his “Unleashing Prosperity Through Deregulation” executive order requires agencies to identify 10 rules that could be cut for every new rule.

Jeff Brabant, a legal expert at the National Federation of Independent Businesses, told The Center Square that small businesses are struggling under the weight of new regulations passed in recent years and want relief.

“When you only have a handful of employees, you don’t have a compliance department, you don’t have attorneys on staff, you don’t have accountants on staff to deal with regulations, to research regulations, to understand regulations, and to make sure you’re compliant,” Brabant said.

“You’re taking time away from your business to do it yourself,” he added.
