White House Creates New Fraud-Fighting Attorney Role

(AURN News) — The White House is creating a new assistant attorney general position with nationwide jurisdiction over fraud involving taxpayer money.

Earlier today, Vice President JD Vance said the Trump administration is launching a new high-level role aimed at stopping fraud tied to federal spending.

According to the administration, the new assistant attorney general will lead investigations into what officials describe as potentially widespread abuse of federally funded programs. Unlike traditional Justice Department roles, the position will operate out of the White House and report directly to President Donald Trump and the vice president.

The move follows a growing scandal in Minnesota, where investigators believe billions of dollars may have been stolen through social services programs over several years. In response, the administration has frozen billions of dollars in federal funding to Minnesota and several other states.

While investigations continue, officials say the new assistant attorney general is expected to be nominated within days and confirmed quickly by the Senate.
