Yes, Folks Are Traveling This Thanksgiving

(AURN News) – Thanksgiving travel is setting a new record this year. AAA projects nearly 82 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home between today and next Monday, making this the busiest Thanksgiving travel period on record.

About 73 million of these travelers will be on the roads, nearly 90% of all trips, with many people choosing to drive after recent flight disruptions.Drivers can expect the worst traffic from midday into the evening and again on Sunday. This is especially true around major metros like New York, D.C., Atlanta and Los Angeles. The advice? Leave early, fill up the night before and give yourself extra time.

Roughly 6 million people are expected to fly – a slight increase from last year, with the cheapest fares available for those willing to travel on Thanksgiving Day itself. Sunday and Monday remain the busiest and most expensive return days.Another 2.5 million travelers will be riding buses, trains or heading out on cruises.
