Americans Losing Patience As Shutdown Enters Week 4

AURN News — Across America, frustration with Washington is hitting a breaking point. The government shutdown, now the second longest in U.S. history, has ground to a halt as both parties dig in and millions of families brace for fallout. A new Gallup poll shows Congress’ approval rating has plunged to just 15 percent — one of the lowest ever recorded.

Half of Americans blame Republicans for the shutdown, but Democrats aren’t escaping criticism either. The numbers are climbing as voters say they’re tired of the finger-pointing.

At the center, health care. Democrats want to protect Affordable Care Act subsidies and reverse nearly $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts.

Republicans control Congress and the White House, but even some GOP pollsters admit the issue could hurt the party if subsidies expire before open enrollment next month.

More than 40 million Americans could lose food assistance by months in, if the shutdown continues and public anger is strong and headed for both parties.
