Bossier City Council to consider final readings on various fund allocations

(The Center Square) – Bossier City Council will hold final readings on ordinances for city project fund allocations next week.

Under the public hearing and final business section of the council’s Tuesday agenda, many issues that have been widely discussed among the council and public will receive a final vote.

Among those items is the appropriation of $3 million for the replacement of around 3,370 water meters throughout the city. The appropriations, if approved, will allow for the start of phase one of the project, which is expected to take roughly six months. Phase two will be introduced in the Bossier City 2026 budget.

Apart from the multi-million dollar water meter project, the council will vote on a $200,000 fund appropriation ordinance for a new sanitary sewer lift station on Veva Drive and Shed Road. The purpose of the new construction is to provide sewer service to residents in this area. The Sewer Capital and Contingency Fund is set to cover the project cost if approved.

Due to projected revenue sitting below budgeted, the Arena Operations Fund must be amended in accordance with the Local Government Budget Act. If approved, the fund budget will decrease the Direct Event Income by $368,670 and decrease the Beginning Fund balance by $187,458.

While no additional funding is needed for this ordinance, a report of change order is being requested for the city-wide street improvements project. If passed, the ordinance will increase the contract price by $8,500, bringing the total to $146,125. Back in 2023, $1.5 million was approved and appropriated for the 2024 street improvements project. The $8,500 contract price difference will come from the originally allocated amount.
