‘Different World:’ Trump touts foreign policy record as overseas conflicts drag on

Former President Donald Trump touted his foreign policy record Wednesday on the heels of an Israeli airstrike that unsettled the region and raised questions about a possible response from Iran.

In a statement Wednesday, Trump pointed to the deadly and chaotic withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan, which left 13 U.S. service members dead, as well as the ongoing wars between Russia and Ukraine and Israel and the terrorist group, Hamas.

“Russia never invaded Ukraine under Trump!” the former president said on TruthSocial in all capital letters on Wednesday. “Iran never invaded Israel under trump! Nobody invaded anybody under Trump! China never even thought of invading Taiwan under trump! Biggest ever embarrassment in Afghanistan would have never happened under trump! There was no inflation under Trump! What a different world it would be under Trump!!!”

Trump’s comments come after Israel said it killed a top Hamas leader, Fuad Shukr, in a strike in Beirut, Lebanon.

The U.S. State Department in 2017 offered a $5 million reward for Shukr, for his connection to terrorist attacks against Americans.

Israel said the strike was in response to a deadly strike from the Iranian-backed group, Hezbollah, over the weekend, which killed 12 children in Israel on a soccer field in the Golan Heights.

Another top Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh, was reportedly assassinated in the capital of Iran by Israel as well. Iran blamed Israel for the assassination, but no one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Israel’s ongoing strikes against Hamas began after a brutal and deadly attack on Oct. 7, where Hamas raped and killed hundreds of Israeli civilians, including babies and children. Hamas reportedly still has dozens of hostages, though it is unclear how many remain alive.
